Sublime is a meditation on the quest to achieve sublimity as artists Maria Anholzer, Yanjun Ding, Cole Hintermeister, Jennifer Lovejoy, and Isaiah Meurer define their journeys in search of this elusive goal through the mediums of photography and digital art. Generally, people think of sublime as a feeling of awe or excellence, but it can also have negative connotations. Sublime is a feeling so desirable and intense that people sometimes feel the need to create it artificially. What people do not consider sublime is the work that goes into receiving this specific feeling. Preceded by times of hard work, pain, and sacrifice, sublimity is transient at best. Our senior show represents a mixture of personal journeys into moments of sublimity and also investigates false promises of it as well.
